Jeff Ullman

CMO & Founder

My life’s passion is helping other people live happily and healthier EVEN after; even after what life does to them. For 25+ years it was exclusively about romantic relationships towards helping singles meet. For 5 years it was helping couples stay ‘two-gether’.

I’ve worked with dozens of medical cannabis science companies brands to learn where my strength is best used: Personalized Medicine.

Before the medical cannabis information and science industry beckoned me, my biggest commercial success came from a concept I created in 1975 based upon using state of the (then) art/science: video. I created a company called ‘Great Expectations’, which helped marriage-minded single people meet, date, and marry (helping 100,000+ people marry). Thus was born ‘video dating’. During the 25 years I was blessed to personally direct 1,500 employees, 50 offices and dozens of franchisees. During two decades of working in the singles industry, I created, organized, and directed projects in more than 50 cities, and helped train thousands of sales, service, marketing, and operational personnel. I sold my company to a financial services public company in 1995, and feel badly that they could not take it to the next level.

Along the way, I co-created and co-executive produced several television programs, including ‘Love Connection’, ‘Taildaters’, and quite a few others (mostly served as a ‘ghost producer’). I’ve authored three books, covering workaholism, love, romance, and changing courtship rituals. I’ve taught journalism at the University of California at Berkeley, as well as appeared on 1,000s of U.S. television, radio programs, magazines and newspapers. I’ve spoken to corporations, governments, universities, and countless groups. Now, I’m delighted to serve you.

I choose to let my ‘boots do the talking’ and actively am involved in various charities; especially those which work to eliminate child abuse and cancer. My favorite charities are the entrepreneurially small; those too small to appear on other philanthropists’ radar; the ‘ma & pa’ charities that have virtually no overhead because they donate virtually all their income to those whom they help.

The greatest love of my life is my wife, Cindy, who I court every day. We’ve spawned a few good ones, too: 6 children and multiple grandchildren. We work hard at being a happier couple. How about you?

Ken Hopper, MD

Medical Director

Dr. Hopper draws from many domains of clinical leadership in fulfilling his career objective of promoting efficient, effective, and empathic models of psychiatric care. For 24 years in Arlington, Texas, his clinical private practice, the Hopper Group (www.thehoppergroup.com), serves clients with emotional issues and provided the foundation for clinical leadership as Medical Director for North Texas hospitals that were part of both Charter and Community Psychiatric Center corporations. In 1996, Dr. Hopper became Medical Director of a managed behavioral health company, Corphealth, Inc. In 2000, was promoted to the role of Chief Medical Officer, and continued as CMO when Corphealth was acquired by Humana, Inc. in 2005. Then served as CMO at LifeSynch (formerly Corphealth) from 2005 to 2010. Since 2011, Dr. Hopper serves as the Western Regional Medical Director for Amerigroup/Wellpoint Healthcare Insurance and participates in the roll out of integrated Medicaid solutions for at-risk clients. Consults with Roger Kathol, MD and Susan Sargent, MBA through Cartesian Solutions designing client-specific medical/behavioral integration methodologies and promoting the principles of integrated case management. The Hopper Group participates in innovative telemedicine-based consultation for targeted medical integration projects.

In 1997, Dr. Hopper was voted ‘Exemplary Psychiatrist’ by NAMI. Since 2011, he serves on NAMI’s Leadership Alliance. Dr. Hopper is a member of the American Psychiatric Society’s workgroup on medical/behavioral integration. His international conference and society presentations focus on Wellness and the integration of behavioral health into medical settings. In 2008, he participated on a panel discussion at the Royal Society in London on the topic of mental health financing in 2008. He remains an active Texas board member of a large, financially at-risk medical group, MCCI Texas.

Summa Cum Laude graduate of Baylor University where he was also a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Completed medical school at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, and then graduated from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School psychiatric residency program. Received an MBA with honors from The University of Texas at Dallas (in partnership with Southwestern Medical School).

Dr. Hopper resides in Fort Worth, Texas and serves charitably on the board of The Parenting Center of Fort Worth.

Jahan Marcu, Ph.D.

Medical Cannabis Science Director

Dr. Marcu received his doctorate for significant contributions to the study of the structure and function of cannabinoid receptors. Marcu’s published work in the prestigious journal, Molecular Cancer Therapeutics, includes studies on the anti-cancer effects of medical cannabinoids. Marcu is an author of the American Herbal Pharmacopoeia’s Cannabis Inflorescence Monograph, which has set the current US federal standards of identity, analysis and quality control for cannabis products. 15 years of experience in medical cannabis research, regulations, and advocacy.

Dr. Marcu is also the Chief Auditor for Patient Focused Certification; Chief Scientist at Americans for Safe Access; and Co-Founder and R&D Director of Green Standard Diagnostics, Inc.

He serves on multiple expert government, trade association committees, and scientific organizations including AHPA, ACS, AOCS, AOAC, ASA, IACM, IMCPC and others.

His work has focused on the structure and function of cannabinoid receptors, the anti-cancer properties of cannabis compounds, Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS), as well as method development & validation for analyzing complex formulations.

Dr. Marcu was the first recipient of the Billy Martin research award from the International Cannabinoid Research Society. He is also a court-qualified synthetic cannabinoid and cannabis expert.

Patrick Gotcher

COO

During 35+ years in the healthcare industry, Patrick Gotcher has been engaged in company formation, business development, strategic growth planning and executive leadership. Enterprise areas have included behavioral health care, managed behavioral health, integrated medical-behavioral healthcare, wellness, wellbeing, multiple specialized services for commercial and Medicare Advantage plans and Dual Eligible/SNP plans.

In his early career he was involved in business development activities for several major hospital corporations for specialty business segments. He founded, functioned as CEO, built, engaged venture capital investors (Massey Burch and Blue Chip), and eventually sold Corphealth, a health and productivity solutions company. Corphealth was acquired by Humana Health Plans in 2007 and established as a standalone subsidiary. It was rebranded LifeSynch and continues to operate under the Humana banner today. Gotcher continued to lead the subsidiary as President until the end of 2011. LifeSynch delivered $90M+ in EBITDA to Humana in 2011 and $400M during the six years while under his leadership.

Gotcher is engaged in consulting activities with several companies at present, functioning as advisor to CEOs and directing business development activities.

Gotcher holds a BA from Baylor University and MSSW from the University of Texas at Arlington. He resides in Ft. Worth, Texas.

David Redfield

VP Strategy Systems and Technology

David Redfield is an Executive Management Advisor providing consultancy services in several areas within the healthcare sector. He was until July 2008, Chief Operating Officer, Disease Management at DaVita’s Dialysis Village Health subsidiary growing the locations from 2,200 to over 9,000 locations. Prior to that he was Chief Strategic Development Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Corphealth, Inc. (now LifeSynch), a Humana subsidiary.

Mr. Redfield has over 40 years of experience in executive leadership of behavioral and chronic disease health care organizations ranging from entrepreneurial startups to multiple fortune 500 healthcare organizations. He served as President of the American Association for Behavioral Practices in 1994-95 and was on the board for 7 years.

He has been involved in health care product development efforts including cost-effective behavioral health, wellness, and telemedicine. Also included in his breadth of experience are full-risk $ solutions with/payers, major DM efforts (both BH and chronic medical viewpoints), non-traditional Rx services and Rx management services. Additionally, Mr. Redfield has experience in mergers, acquisitions, and capital generation for entrepreneurial organizations. He is also a developer of executive talent and C-suite interpersonal assessment and organizational structure.

Mike Baker

CFO

Michael G. Baker, CPA is our highly experienced CFO with expertise in guiding growing businesses to financial success. Mike started his career with a Big-4 Accounting firm and went on to be CFO in several growth oriented companies. At Financial Express, a national franchisor of accounting practices, Baker provided financial leadership as the company grew from three to over sixty franchisees. When he joined Corphealth (aka LifeSynch), gross revenues were $2.7 million. Eighteen years later gross revenues were $200 million.

In addition to standard CFO skills and abilities, Baker has a strong expertise in budgeting/forecasting and expense management. He excels in managing all financial reporting as well as delivering fiscal results to shareholders and boards. Baker has a unique ability to work well with staff members and with senior executives resulting in efficient and effective guidance. He conceives and implements plans that improve performance of internal teams, elevate profitability, and protect against risk/exposure.

Experience includes strategic planning, auditing, due diligence, and private equity portfolio management. Having worked with start-up companies, Baker knows how to quickly recognize and overcome obstacles to profitable growth. He has proven results working with venture capital groups, investors, and investment bankers.

Carolyn Smith

It’s not ‘old’ to say that Carolyn has such a passion to be part of any organization which delivers compassionate and innovative health solutions to seniors! This is why she excelled as Director of Marketing and Admissions at the St. Margaret’s Senior Living communities for the skilled and assisted living communities in Louisiana in 2014. Thereafter, joining Home Instead, the New Orleans franchise committed to helping aging seniors cope with life’s home challenges.

From 2002 to 2011 Carolyn served as Director of Business Development for the Manufacturing Extension Partnership of Louisiana (MEPOL) funded by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. In 2011, Carolyn’s continued her dedication to public service with Department of Commerce as Project Manager for the Gulf Oil Spill Disaster Adjustment Assistant program. Her responsibilities included introducing innovative solutions and funding to businesses, partners and stakeholders to stimulate the economic climate in Louisiana. She worked directly with industry and small businesses to access their needs, prepare their grant application, and manage the consulting projects to assure sustainable profitable growth.

Previous work experience included Materials Manager at Datum, Inc. in Irvine, CA, and as the Production and Inventory Control Manager at Western Financial Printing and Vinyl Company in Santa Fe Springs, CA. Her industrial experience includes automotive, medical, and electronics manufacturers. For eight years, she directed a recreational program for those adults impaired physically, mentally, or emotionally.

Carolyn served six years on the LSU Louisiana Forest Products Development Center Board (LFPDC). Also, she served two years on the Louisiana Industrial Development Executive Association (LIDEA), Business Retention and Expansion Committee. In 2008, Governor Jindal appointed her to the Workforce Council. In 2006, she received the Manufacturing Extension Partnership of Louisiana Unsung Hero Award at the MEP annual conference.

Carolyn received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Management from the University of the Redlands in California. She is certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM). She also has a certificate in production and inventory practice from California State University. In 2015, she completed her certified nursing assistant to better assist the aging in home population.
